Basandosi sul celebre "I dannati della terra" di Frantz Fanon, il film ripercorre le rivolte che hanno portato alla decolonizzazione del continente africano. La voce di Ms. Lauryn Hill ridà vita al radicale testo dello scrittore e filosofo, commentando illuminanti filmati delle lotte di liberazione nel Terzo Mondo. Ma uno sguardo ai conflitti che infiammano i vecchi confini coloniali dimostra come l'Africa stia tuttora facendo i conti con secoli di invasioni e interventi europei, e che a oltre 50 anni dalla pubblicazione quel testo resta uno strumento essenziale per far luce sul neocolonialismo attuale e le sue conseguenze.
